#AskPaulKirtley Episode 23 – Live Questions In The Woods
In this episode of #AskPaulKirtley I answer questions asked by a live audience of students on a bushcraft course in the woods. It was a wet and windy weekend and filming this was made quite “interesting”….

But remember if you want to ask a question for a future episode, don’t do this in the comments below, do it in one of the ways explained HERE.
What Is #AskPaulKirtley?
#AskPaulKirtley is my Q&A video and podcast series that aims to answer your questions about bushcraft, survival skills and outdoor life.
The idea here is partly to take the strain off my email inbox and get answers out to people in a more timely fashion.
Rather than send an answer to just that one person, I’d like others to benefit from the answers too. So, just in the same way I’d previously write an email answer, here I’m going to speak the answer (which is much quicker than me typing out an answer, so I’ll get more questions answered as well as benefiting more people).

Looks like you all had fun despite the wind and rain over the weekend!
I’m impressed you all got through the session without giggling the whole time.
Haha yes Luke there was a round of giggles and laughter at the beginning then we managed to hold it together for the rest of the session.
Spoons had to walk away at the beginning (all out of shot) but it was him who set everyone off 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it too.
Warm regards,
Paul
Hi Paul,
I listen to your Ask Paul Kirtley videos, study the Plant and Tree ID videos like mad and watch or read other things on your blog and can say with all honesty I am constantly blown away by your knowledge and ability to pass that information on. It’s one thing being great at what you do, but another being able to pass that information on! It’s not that I expect less and am surprised by your work, far from it, in fact with your background I have extreamly high expectations and they are always met moreover frequently exceeded.
Listening to you talk about plants and trees is wonderful and your knowldge plainly obvious, I’ve used the saying before, but it’s very refreshing.
Feedback is always appreciated so I thought I’d say so.
Warm regards.
Thank you Tom. As always you are very kind. It’s good to read your comments on this experimental episode. I know you have consumed a lot of my other material – both free and paid – so it’s good to have your views on how each stands up against the next.
Warm regards,
Paul
brilliant, loved this episode.something about chatting round a camp fire ,cant beat it
Yup, I agree Danny. Hard to beat, even on a cold, windy night 🙂
Hi Paul
Superb episode.
All the memories of being a ‘Kirtley student’ came flooding back. Like all the best footage there was even a bit of product placement .
Just about to go in to the woods for the evening and use all those skills you taught me .
Best
Mark
Hey Mark,
Glad this brought the memories back. It’s been a while since we shared a camp fire.
And now we have Kirtley Kettles to hang over the fire too 😉
Hope you had a good time in the woods.
Warm regards,
Paul
Paul what is the brand of beanie you are wearing in this video I love the style and color thank you.
Chip, it’s by Chaos Hats. I bought it in Canada. I really love this hat – warm and super comfy.

Good day Paul
I was watching the above video, and at the end of it, I couldn’t help but wonder. I wonder what it would it have been like if there was military personal in the audience.
My question or suggestion is, what would be your thoughts on doing the same format and type of video, but this time, the audience is military personal. It would be great to see their thoughts, feedback, and really them asking you question.
Thanks for all your hard work.
Brent Clark
Hi Brent,
Good suggestion. I don’t know your background but do you have in mind a particular audience that you have connections with?
Warm regards,
Paul
